I don’t know about you, but it seems like there’s an inordinate amount of commercials on TV about smells. Laundry detergents, dryer beads, room scent, candles, etc. They’re cute and catchy and make you feel good, but every time I see one, I can’t help but shudder and cringe. All those synthesized smells, while seemingly luscious and comforting mentally and emotionally, are NOT good news for our bodies.
Man-made smells composed of chemicals are endocrine disrupters. Our endocrine system is our hormonal system. That system is so much more than just PMS, periods and womanly issues, which is how we think of it most often. All those hormones are useful little carrier pigeons with messages that tell our body what to do, when, and how. They fly through our cells and regulate things like hunger, body temperature, blood pressure, blood sugar, fluid retention, energy levels, thyroid function, estrogen and progesterone, testosterone, metabolism, immune function, etc. The list is almost infinite.
So, all those heavenly smells that make us feel so “happy” (e.g., in commercials) are actually wreaking havoc and throwing our hormones into loads of confusion.
Think about it. 🧐 There’s a reason there’s so much auto-immune issues, weird health issues, mental and emotional issues (think anxiety and depression), lack of energy, and overall general malaise nowadays.
I’m not saying all your health problems are caused by inhaling dryer sheets and detergent pods, etc., but just think about it…. 🤔 If you have all these chemical-induced, man-created smells surrounding you constantly; in your house, in practically every room, on your clothing, in your makeup, shampoos, soaps, etc., and you’re struggling with health issues, then …maybe there’s a connection? It’s at least a place to start looking for some answers for your current health issues.
But ….I like my smells! Yep, me too. So get the authentic stuff that Nature makes instead of synthesized chemicals.
Think about wearing diffuser jewelry all day with some essential oils on it. It’ll have the same aromatic effect as dousing your clothes with scented beads. Plus, the bonus is that it will effect your mood in positive ways instead of disrupting it. Invest in organic makeup and body products. For your house, get unscented incense sticks and burn your own choice of essential oils; or a potpourri jar with essential oils on it. Or better yet, get an essential oil diffuser that you can purchase for cheap about anywhere nowadays.
At JsCrossing we hear often about folks w Lupus, eczema, psoriasis, IBS, Chrohn’s, Hashimoto’s, endometriosis, etc. We hear the heartache, pain and disruption these things cause in lives. These and more are all pretty common nowadays. Just please think on what I’m sharing. Eliminating synthetic smells from your home and life isn’t a cure-all for sure. But, it is a simple and doable place to start looking for answers.
